LONDON — A comprehensive UK government evaluation of Microsoft 365 Copilot has revealed mixed results, with significant time savings failing to translate into measurable productivity improvements.
The Department for Business and Trade’s three-month trial found that whilst users saved an average of 26 minutes daily, there was “no conclusive evidence that time savings led to measurable productivity improvement.” The evaluation involved 1,000 licences and represents one of the largest real-world assessments of enterprise AI tools.
Despite limitations, 72% of users reported satisfaction with the digital assistant, particularly for email writing and meeting summarisation, though PowerPoint creation and data analysis showed quality concerns requiring additional corrections.
